About Me

I began this journey with food and fitness right out of college. Even though I was raised on what was believed to be good, nutritious food, I realized that after four years of college I needed to get back in touch with my healthy eating habits. What better motivation to lose those extra pounds than my upcoming nuptials. After getting engaged to my now husband, I decided it was the perfect time to rethink my portion sizes and increase my workouts. Of course I dropped the few pounds I had been carrying, and felt great doing it! What I wasn't taking into consideration were terms like "healthy fats" and "whole foods".  I was exercise and calorie OBSESSED.

It wasn't until I gave birth to my first son, Cooper, that I started to rethink the quality of the foods I was putting into my mouth not just the quantity. Cooper was a fussy baby from the very start. I spent countless nights reading about "colicky" babies and ways to deal with it. I eventually came across some literature on dairy sensitivity in breastfed babies and its correlation to babies with "colic". I decided it was time to make a change because we were all suffering. I eliminated all dairy and soy from my diet immediately, and within a week I had a brand new baby. Happy. Healthy. Peaceful.

By going dairy and soy free, I was forced to look at every nutrition label for all forms of dairy or soy that I could be ingesting. This opened my eyes to just how many artificial and processed ingredients are in the foods that we eat. This sent me into a whole new world of healthy eating. I focused on simple, non-GMO, clean foods. Ingredients that I could pronounce, and foods I could make at home.

I started this blog to share some of the amazing recipes I have created along the way, as well as fitness and nutrition tips I have found incredibly helpful in reaching my own health and wellness goals. My wish is to share these simple, nutritious meals with you and your family, and to promote clean eating and healthy living so that it becomes a staple in every household.

With love,

Elise
